Udayana University


The host university is called Udayana University (abbreviations UU and Unud are also used).
Unud is the largest and most respected university in Bali. It was founded in 1962 by the Ministry of Education and has a total of 13 faculties. The university has approximately 22,000 students.
Faculty of Letters Udayana was founded in 1958. It was four years earlier than the University itself. It has developed a reputation for the quality of education and cultural studies in Bali.

It has eight departments:

  • Indonesian Language and Literature
  • English Language and Literature
  • Balinese Language and Literature
  • Old Javanese Language and Literature
  • History
  • Anthropology
  • Archeology
  • Japanese Language and Literature

Non-degree courses are:

  • BIPA (Indonesian Language for Foreign Speakers) - Located in Denpasar Campus
  • BIPAS (Bali International Program on Asian Studies) - Located in Jimbaran Campus

Bukit Jimbaran campus is located in the south of Bali. The facilities for the international students are nearby the Unud Rektorat. The drive from the airport takes about 20 minutes and to Kuta around 30 minutes depending on traffic.

The campus in Denpasar is used for some workshops during the semester. Here the students can meet local students. The campus is 20 minutes drive from Kuta and next to the Sanglah Hospital.
